Braided Easter Bread

Add a little color to your Easter Table with this delicious Braided Easter Bread. I would suggest baking uncolored eggs in the braid just to hold their spots. Then replacing the white eggs with colored easter eggs. This way, the color of the eggs won't leach onto the bread dough when baking.

Once the bread has cooled completely, drizzle it with a light creamcheese glaze. Delicious!

Pastry Dough:

1 1/4 cups warm milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 egg
4 cups flour
1 tbsp. yeast

In a large mixing bowl, combine milk, salt, sugar, butter and 2 cups flour. Mix 2 minutes or until smooth. Add egg, yeast, and remaining flour, to make a soft and elastic dough, kneading well for 6 minutes. Allow the dough to rise, and then shape into braids. When braided, allow to rise 30 more minutes, and bake at 350 until golden brown, about 35-40 minutes.
