Braided Easter Bread

Looking for a fun way to add some color to your baking this Easter?
Here's a recipe handed down from my cute Russian-German Grandmother
that we make every year...

Here's the Sweet Bread Recipe:

2 1/2 cups warm milk
2 tbsp. instant Saf Yeast
2/3 cup sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 cup melted butter
2 eggs
6-8 cups flour

This makes 3 easter braided breads.

In a large mixing bowl combine warm milk, salt, sugar, butter, and 2 cups flour. Mix for just a minute. Add yeast, and continue to add more flour until you have a soft and elastic dough. Knead 6-8 minutes. Cover and allow to rise 1 hour. Now you're ready to make your easter breads! When it's time to bake, shape your breads, allow to rise until double, then bake at 350 degrees until the dough is nice and golden.

Quick tip: Sometimes your colored eggs will "bleed" on to the dough as they bake. To avoid this, simply place raw white eggs in your braid to bake, then when the bread is done, take out the white eggs and replace them with your brightly colored eggs. No one will ever know!
